Course on Intellectual Property & Sustainability
Presentation
After the highly successful experience of the past three years, the NOVA School of Law Executive Education relaunches the Course on Intellectual Property and Sustainability, a high-profile learning experience aimed at equipping participants with a solid knowledge on how to navigate legal rules on patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indications in sustainability-relevant scenarios.
In particular, this year’s edition will focus on the EU legal system and dive into:
- Environmental protection and IP incentives behind green innovation
- Circular economy and IP rules applying in repair and reuse
- Social inclusivity through IP legal mechanisms
The Course consists of 10 lectures, organized in 5 online sessions of 2,5 hours each, featuring clear-cut explanations, practical exercises, and moderated class discussions.
For participants based or willing to travel to Lisbon, we offer the unique opportunity of an on-site visit to the Portuguese National IP Court and the Lisbon branch of the Unified Patent Court, alongside with a gathering at Cuatrecasas law firm led by their IP legal team.

Objective
The Course will consist of 6 sessions, each of which will feature lectures from internationally renowned IP legal scholars as well as exercises of legal application and legal interpretation.
