Elections for Students' Representatives on the School Council of NOVA School of Law

On 7 April 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the Electoral Commission responsible for the process of appointing elections for students’ representatives on the School Council of NOVA School of Law convened to tally and announce the results of the election.

After verification and reconfirmation of the vote count, 143 votes were recorded, distributed as follows: 60 votes for List A, 74 votes for List B, 8 blank votes, and 1 invalid vote.

Based on the results, Francisco de Jesus (List B) and Francisco Maria Fialho Freire (List A) were elected as full members. As alternate members, from List A, Rita Vieira Marques, Rodrigo Miguel Valente Martins, and Maria Miguel Pinto Veloso were elected; and from List B, Mariana de Andrade Marques Nunes de Resende, Beatriz Valouro Machado de Jesus, and Tiago Bento Marques were elected.

On April 7, elections will be held for Students’ Representatives on the School Council of NOVA School of Law.

The election campaign will take place between March 23 and April 5.

Voting in person will take place in the faculty lobby between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Mobility vote

The NOVA School of Law acknowledges the constraints that may prevent individuals from casting their votes in person and, as such, has instituted the Mobility Vote.

Votes for the Mobility category must be cast using the online NOVA School of Law Faculty Council (Students) form. To ensure your vote is counted, please use your NOVA School of Law credentials to access the form before 10:00 p.m. on March 29, 2026.

After your registration is confirmed, you will receive an email notification with the link to access the electronic voting platform. This platform will be available from 12:00 PM on March 30, 2026, until 11:59 PM on March 31, 2026, upon authentication with your NOVA School of Law credentials.

This initiative is designed to ensure the confidentiality and anonymity of the vote and to guarantee the involvement of all individuals who wish to partake in this electoral process, a pivotal moment in the democratic life of our Institution.

The process was closely monitored by the Electoral Committee, appointed by Order no.6/2026, and in accordance with the provisions of article 4 of the Electoral Regulations pertaining to Students’ Representatives for the School Council.

In accordance with the NOVA School of Law’s Statutes, the School Council also includes three external members of recognized merit, to be appointed by the Rector upon the recommendation of the elected members. Following their appointment, the Council shall elect, by an absolute majority, the respective Chair from among the external members and the Vice Chair from among the tenured School Council members.

NOVA School of Law is pleased to announce that elections will be held to select representatives of Students for the School Council.

Please be advised that the deadline for submitting candidacies is 6 March at 5 p.m.

Candidacy submissions should be formally addressed to the President of the Electoral Commission, Professor Assunção Cristas, and forwarded to apoio.direcao@novalaw.unl.pt
