NOVA School of Law establishes cooperation agreement with the University of the Azores to strengthen legal education in the Azores Autonomous Region
- 21 April 2026
NOVA School of Law and the University of the Azores (UAc), through its Faculty of Economics and Management, have signed a Cooperation Agreement to jointly develop postgraduate programmes, short courses, and conferences in Law.
The agreement aims to strengthen legal education in the Azorean Autonomous Region, promoting closer alignment between higher education and regional realities, and enhancing the qualifications of students and professionals.
For NOVA School of Law, this agreement aligns with its mission to promote legal knowledge, collaborate with national higher education institutions and contribute to the development of training programmes tailored to local needs. It also reinforces the School’s presence in different academic contexts nationwide.
This cooperation initiative aims to stimulate the scientific field of Law, expand and diversify the educational offering and promote specialisation in emerging areas. It also seeks to strengthen an interdisciplinary approach between Law, Economics and Management, and reinforce links between academia, public institutions and the regional economic and social fabric.
This initiative is part of the ongoing consolidation of legal education at the University of the Azores, where several successful postgraduate programmes have been developed at the Faculty of Economics and Management, particularly in the areas of Labour Law, Forensic Legal Sciences, and Regional Economic and Financial Law.
These programmes have made a significant contribution to professional development and the enhancement of technical skills in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
