Presentation

The Tax Regimes for Mobile Individuals and Private Wealth course offers a rigorous and practice-oriented analysis of the tax challenges arising from the international mobility of high-net-worth individuals and globally active professionals.

Following the success of its first edition in 2025, the programme returns in an expanded second edition with additional special regimes and jurisdictions and a stronger comparative focus. Participants will examine concrete regimes in countries such as Portugal, Italy, Spain, Malta and the UAE, combining solid conceptual foundations in international tax with case studies, simulations and practical exercises to develop both technical knowledge and operational expertise.

A defining feature of this edition is its hybrid format. The core academic and technical content is delivered remotely, making the programme more accessible and significantly expanding its reach to participants across different jurisdictions. To complement this flexible and international structure, the programme also includes one exclusively in-person day dedicated to practical application — Case Study, Roundtable & Simulations. This face-to-face component is designed to foster networking, encourage the exchange of professional experience, and enrich the learning process through direct interaction, offering a truly distinctive added value.

A further distinctive feature lies in the faculty profile:

  • Introductory and structural masterclasses are delivered by internationally recognised experts with global academic and advisory experience.
  • The special regimes are presented by practitioners who reside and actively practice in the jurisdictions analysed, offering first-hand insights into administrative practice, interpretative trends and real-world constraints.

Designed for experienced professionals seeking to deepen their expertise, as well as for those specialising in international tax and mobility advisory, the course provides a unique combination of comparative insight, strategic depth and practical training in a rapidly evolving field of international taxation.

Coordination

Aim of the course

The course aims to provide participants with advanced, practice-driven expertise in the taxation of internationally mobile individuals, with a particular focus on special tax regimes and their strategic use in cross-border planning.

Beyond understanding the applicable tax rules, participants will develop the ability to:

  • Analyse and compare special tax regimes across jurisdictions;
  • Identify planning opportunities and structural constraints;
  • Assess compliance risks and ethical boundaries;
  • Design mobility strategies that balance efficiency, transparency and legal certainty.

The programme is structured to strengthen both technical knowledge and professional judgment, equipping participants to operate confidently in complex cross-border scenarios. Its hybrid design plays an important role in achieving this objective: the remote delivery of the substantive content facilitates participation and broadens the programme’s international reach, while the in-person practical day creates a dedicated space for applied learning, professional interaction and shared reflection.

Through masterclasses, jurisdiction-specific regime analysis, case studies and simulations — culminating in an exclusively presencial session focused on application, debate and exchange — the course bridges theory and practice in a particularly dynamic and effective way. By the end of the programme, participants will not only understand how special tax regimes function, but will be able to critically evaluate their suitability, sustainability and risk profile in real advisory contexts.

Target audience

The course is particularly suited to:

  • Tax lawyers, advisors, accountants and private wealth professionals seeking to deepen their international expertise;
  • Professionals already active in the field who wish to consolidate and expand their comparative knowledge;
  • Specialists in training who aim to build a solid and globally informed foundation in mobility and private wealth taxation.
