Conference
Women’s Human Rights: An Intersectional and Anti-Colonial Perspective
5 March, 2026
On 5 March, the Rectory of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa will host the conference Women’s Human Rights: an intersectional and anti-colonial perspective, fostering reflection on contemporary challenges to women’s human rights with a critical focus on intersectionality and decoloniality.
The NOVA Refugee and Migration Clinic is organising the conference in collaboration with the Equality and Inclusion Office of NOVA University Lisbon. The aim is to improve understanding of the experiences of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women by exploring how different forms of inequality, such as gender-based, social and legal inequality, intersect and affect the effective enjoyment of human rights.
The conference, which is being co-organised in partnership with HeForShe UNL, HeForShe ULisboa, and the Feminist Group of FDUL, will take place in Auditorium B, at the Rectorate of NOVA University Lisbon. It will start at 2:30 pm.
Admission is free, but subject to prior registration via the event form.
