School of Law is a partner in a new European project funded under the <a href=\"https:\/\/marie-sklodowska-curie-actions.ec.europa.eu\/actions\/doctoral-networks\">Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions \u2013 Doctoral Networks (MSCA DN)<\/a>, dedicated to the theme \u201c<em>Reconfiguring Europe: Law and Political Economy of the Green Transition<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>The MSCA Doctoral Networks are <strong>one of the most competitive funding instruments under the <a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Horizon Europe<\/a> programme, designed to fund international networks for advanced doctoral training based on the highest standards of scientific excellence and doctoral supervision.<\/strong><\/p><p>The project, titled <strong>LPE-GREEN (project no. 101311917),<\/strong> has been awarded funding totalling approximately \u20ac4.57 million, of which <strong>around \u20ac560,000 will be allocated to NOVA School of Law<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eur.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erasmus University Rotterdam<\/a>, the consortium <strong>brings together several internationally renowned academic institutions<\/strong>, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gla.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Glasgow<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yale.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yale University<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sciences Po<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs.dk\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Copenhagen Business School<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/warwick.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Warwick<\/a>, to name a few.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38931fa elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"38931fa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 preto regular-text\">Project leadership at NOVA School of Law<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b55d077 elementor-hidden-desktop elementor-hidden-laptop elementor-hidden-tablet elementor-hidden-mobile elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b55d077\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>At NOVA School of Law, <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/fabrizio-esposito\/\">Professor Fabrizio Esposito<\/a> will lead the project as <strong>Principal Investigator (PI)<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/lucila-de-almeida\/\">Professor Lucila de Almeida<\/a> will lead as <strong>Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI)<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f10af7e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f10af7e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The School&#8217;s participation in this consortium <strong>is the result of the scientific work and proposal developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/fabrizio-esposito\/\">Professor Fabrizio Esposito<\/a> (Principal Investigator) and <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/lucila-de-almeida\/\">Professor Lucila de Almeida<\/a> (Co-Principal Investigator)<\/strong>, who are also the scientific authors of the proposal and will coordinate its implementation at the School.<\/p><p>The proposal reflects <strong>the high evaluation of the supervisory teams involved under the scientific excellence and doctoral supervision capacity criteria required by the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions<\/strong>, thereby ensuring robust training and supervision for doctoral researchers.<\/p><p>Professor Fabrizio Esposito&#8217;s research focuses on Private Law, Economic Law, European Union Law and Economic Theory, particularly the relationship between Law, markets and political economy. His research examines the role of legal institutions in regulating contemporary economic and social dynamics.<\/p><p>Professor Lucila de Almeida specialises in Energy Law, Climate Law, and Sustainability Law, with a particular focus on the implementation of European policies on energy and environmental transition. Her work addresses the legal and regulatory challenges of the green transition and the implementation of the European Green Deal.<\/p><p><strong>The combination of these two areas of research was crucial to the success of the LPE-GREEN proposal<\/strong>, strengthening NOVA School of Law\u2019s contribution to the project&#8217;s objectives of analysing the legal and political dimensions of the green transition and understanding how it can be effective, just, and socially inclusive simultaneously.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9918743 elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"9918743\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 preto regular-text\">The participation of NOVA School of Law and its impact on advanced PhD education<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47923d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"47923d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The school&#8217;s involvement will fund <strong>two doctoral researchers to be integrated into an advanced international research network, and will facilitate the development of a variety of scientific activities in collaboration with the other consortium members.<\/strong><\/p><p>Adopting an interdisciplinary approach within the field of Law and Political Economy, <strong>the LPE-GREEN project examines the legal and political dimensions of the green transition<\/strong>, with a focus on the areas of production, natural resources, and finance.
