Naval Academy in 1979 and completed his <em>Navy Class, <\/em>in 1984. Promoted to the rank of Navy Ensign, he served as Officer Chief Mate of the NRP<em> Save, <\/em>between 1984 and 1985.<\/p><p>He joined the <em>Submarine Squadron<\/em> in September 1985, having performed various operational duties with the NRP <em>Albacora<\/em>, <em>Delfim<\/em> and <em>Barracuda<\/em>. Between 1992 and 2002, he commanded the submarines NRP <em>Delfim<\/em> and <em>Barracuda<\/em> and headed the <em>Training and Evaluation Service of the Submarine Squadron and the Staff of the National Submarine Operations Control Authority.<\/em><\/p><p>He was Public Relations and Spokesman for the Navy and later commanded the frigate NRP <em>Vasco da Gama<\/em> between 2006 and 2008.<\/p><p>He returned to the <em>Submarine Squadron<\/em> as Commander, to lead the transformation and reconstruction project of this structure, enabling it to receive and support the new <em>Trident<\/em> class submarines.<\/p><p>He also held the positions of 2nd Commander of the <em>Flotilla<\/em>, Director of Lighthouses and Director of the Shipwreck Aid Institute.<\/p><p>In April 2014, promoted to Rear Admiral, he was Chief of the Office of Admiral CEMA until November 2016. For a brief period, he was 2nd Naval Commander, serving as deputy Naval Commander, until January 2017.
