Professor Doutor Diogo Freitas do Amaral was established with the aim of <strong>distinguishing, promoting, and disseminating educational models of excellence<\/strong> that meet current pedagogical challenges, promoting quality teaching capable of providing a transformational and intellectually challenging learning experience.<\/p><p>The <strong>Prize, whose title was created as a tribute to the pedagogical concerns of its Founder, <\/strong>which were clearly at the genesis of the creation of NOVA School of Law itself, consists, then, in the public recognition of pedagogical excellence, intending, in particular, to recognize the capacity for pedagogical innovation of its faculty, contributing to disseminating good practices developed in the academic year immediately preceding its attribution, in course units of any type.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/5th-edition-of-the-prize-for-pedagogical-excellence-professor-doutor-diogo-freitas-do-amaral\/\">Learn more about this award here<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d705864 elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"d705864\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 vermelho bold-text\">Professor Carlos Ferreira de Almeida Award<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7731762 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7731762\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>NOVA School of Law has established the Professor Carlos Ferreira de Almeida Award in order to <strong>encourage doctoral studies in Law, in the area of Private Law<\/strong>, in line with the wishes of the Professor who, through his teaching, influenced generations of students and gave a decisive impulse to the realization of doctoral studies in Law, especially in matters of Private Law.<\/p><p><strong>Awarded annually since 2023<\/strong>, the prize recognises and rewards <strong>the best student in the PhD in Law programme<\/strong> <strong>at NOVA School of Law specialising in Private Law<\/strong>. Recently, the scope of the award <strong>was extended to include the Bachelor&#8217;s degree<\/strong>, and it now also recognises <strong>the student who completes the Bachelor&#8217;s in Law with the highest grade average<\/strong>. This further strengthens the School&#8217;s commitment to merit and excellence from the first cycle of studies onwards.<\/p><p>The award is presented during the <strong>NOVA School of Law Day ceremony<\/strong>.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/professor-carlos-ferreira-de-almeida-award\/\">Learn more about this award here.<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ec42dce elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"ec42dce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 vermelho bold-text\">Professor Paula Escarameia Award<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-31138e1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"31138e1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Professor Paula Escarameia Award aims to encourage the <strong>study of Public International Law<\/strong> among the student <strong>community of our School<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The prize was established on July 13, 2011, based on the legacy of the Professor, an eminent Portuguese internationalist who held, among other important positions, the position of member of the International Law Commission of the United Nations between 2002 and 2010, during which time she collaborated intensely with NOVA School of Law as a lecturer and researcher.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The prize is awarded <strong>every two years<\/strong>, starting in 2012, and aims to distinguish and reward works whose theme falls <strong>within the area of Public International Law<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Premio_Paula_Escarameia_2023_Regulamentos_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consult the regulations here.<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-638cc31 elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"638cc31\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 vermelho bold-text\">Cruz Vila\u00e7a \u2013 Antas da Cunha ECIJA Award in European Union Law<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9dfbe47 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9dfbe47\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The<strong> Cruz Vila\u00e7a \u2013 Antas da Cunha ECIJA Award in European Union Law<\/strong> is presented annually to recognise the academic excellence of <strong>a second-year student on the NOVA School of Law&#8217;s undergraduate law programme<\/strong>, in recognition of <strong>outstanding achievement in the study of European Union law<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The prize is awarded to the student with the highest grade, which is determined based on their final mark in the European Union Constitutional Law course and their average grade in the other courses completed by the end of the second year.<\/p><p>The distinguished student receives <strong>a \u20ac1,000 monetary award<\/strong>, funded by the <strong>Cruz Vila\u00e7a \u2013 Antas da Cunha ECIJA Chair<\/strong>. They are also given the opportunity to undertake <strong>an internship at the Antas da Cunha ECIJA law firm<\/strong> and to include the <strong>distinction in their <em>curriculum vitae<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/p><p>The prize was created within the framework of the Cruz Vila\u00e7a \u2013 Antas da Cunha ECIJA Chair in European Union Law, which aims to promote teaching and research in this field, as well as honouring the Portuguese jurist <strong>Jos\u00e9 Lu\u00eds da Cruz Vila\u00e7a<\/strong>.<\/p><p><a data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The<strong> Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos Awards<\/strong> have been created under the Patronage Protocol signed between NOVA School of Law and Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos to recognise the academic merit of our students.<\/p><p>The prizes are awarded annually to the <strong>best 1st year Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Law student at NOVA School of Law<\/strong> and the <strong>best student on the Master&#8217;s Degree in Law and Financial Markets.<\/strong><\/p><p>The eligibility conditions for the Awards, worth \u20ac1,000, are as follows:<\/p><p><strong>Prize for the best student in the 1st year of the Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Law: <\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Have completed all 60 credits of the first year of the NOVA School of Law degree in the academic year in which the prize is awarded, with full fulfilment of the curricular units and restricted options determined in the first-year curricular plan.<\/li><li>Have the best average weighted by the number of credits obtained, if your average is equal or higher than 16.00 (on a scale of 0\/20).<\/li><li>Only the grades obtained at NOVA School of Law will be taken into account when determining the best grades in the teaching phase.<\/li><li>In the event of a tie, the average of the marks awarded for the compulsory curricular units will be the tie-breaker.<\/li><li>Only students who complete the academic phase on time, on a full-time basis, are eligible for these academic merit awards.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Prize for the best student on the Master&#8217;s programme in Law and Financial Markets (curricular phase): <\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Have completed all 60 credits of the taught phase of the Master\u2019s in Law and Financial Markets at NOVA School of Law in the academic year in which the prize is awarded, with full fulfilment of the curricular units and restricted options determined in the curricular plan, continuing and attending the non-taught phase.<\/li><li>Have the best average weighted by the number of credits obtained, if your average is equal or higher class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The European organization<strong> Euroconsumers<\/strong>, through the <strong>Consumer Empowerment Project (CEP)<\/strong>, has launched the 4th edition of the <strong>&#8220;My Data is Mine 2023&#8221;<\/strong> award, which will be given to the best paper written by young student researchers who offer an innovative approach to data protection issues and who can make a visionary contribution to the exploitation of data in Europe and the world.<\/p><p>In this fourth edition, <strong>which aims to recognize excellent research in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong> <strong>and data protection,<\/strong> Euroconsumers has created a specific award for the best paper written by students from NOVA School of data-id=\"c02ebca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <strong>Abreu Advogados\/Knowledge Institute Award<\/strong> was established as part of the<a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/nova-school-of-law-consolida-parceria-com-abreu-advogados\/\"> partnership between the NOVA School of Law and Abreu Advogado<\/a>s, a collaboration that strengthens their joint dedication to research, innovation and academic excellence.<\/p><p>The award recognises the academic merit of the best third-year class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <strong>International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)<\/strong>, \u00a0a non-profit organization that aims to support privacy professionals by providing resources, education and networking opportunities, has included NOVA School of Law in the list of schools authorized to <strong>award the Westin Scholar Award<\/strong>, given<strong> to students who are recognized as future leaders in the field of privacy and data protection.<\/strong><\/p><p>The award will be given<strong> annually<\/strong> to the student with the
