It may change colour, but it is constant in essence. <strong>Motivations, technological changes, and tactical or strategic innovations<\/strong> do not change the nature of war \u2013 the form that war takes is constantly evolving. <strong>War is, therefore, a phenomenon in itself.<\/strong> In this regard, the legal or geopolitical dimensions of warfare are just one of the many aspects that comprise the state of war. These, naturally, undergo processes of mutation and adaptation.<\/p><p>Against this background, the conference aims to address current <strong>trends in armed conflicts<\/strong>, taking into consideration <strong>four axes of analysis<\/strong> that can help us understand the future of war and how Law is involved in the process. These key areas of <strong>digital technologies<\/strong>, <strong>climate change<\/strong> and resource competition, <strong>privatization of conflict<\/strong> and identities and violent extremism, are some of the many reasons that can lead to war in the future.<\/p><p>The conference will involve participation of members of the <strong>Government<\/strong> <strong>and the armed forces,<\/strong> <strong>academics and international experts.<\/strong><\/p><p>This conference is organized by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/felipe-pathe-duarte\/\">Felipe Path\u00e9 Duarte<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/laura-inigo-alvarez\/\">Laura \u00cdnigo Alvarez<\/a><\/strong> within the framework of the <strong>50th year anniversary of NOVA University Lisbon<\/strong> with the support of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fct.pt\/en\/\">FCT<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/cedis\/\">CEDIS <\/a><\/strong>and
