Abreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Since November 2021, the NOVA School of Law, Abreu Advogados<\/a>, and Instituto de Conhecimento da Abreu<\/a> have had a protocol in place establishing mutual cooperation for the development of law and sustainability topics in the pedagogical and research programmes at NOVA School of Law<\/strong>. For this purpose, it established the Abreu Chair, which involves the coordination of the NOVA Green Lab knowledge centre<\/a>, whose research, training, and dissemination activities are partially financed by the Knowledge Institute of Abreu Advogados.<\/p>

From October 2022 to March 2025, the NOVA School of Law hosted the \u201cAbreu Chair in ESG Impact<\/em>\u201d as an ad personam<\/em> chair, supporting the hiring of a professor to coordinate teaching and research activities in the areas of sustainability, particularly in environmental and energy law.<\/p>

Since April 2025, following the Award of FCT tenure funds to the Abreu-NOVA School of Law for co-finance of a non-academic Chair, the Abreu Chair was renewed as the \u00abAbreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate\u00bb<\/strong>, supporting the hiring of a tenured Associate Professor through an international open competition.<\/p>

The \u00abAbreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate\u00bb is also responsible for the formation of students attending the courses of Environmental law; Energy law; Energy, Climate and Just Transition; and Regulation & Environmental Risk at NOVA School of Law. It is also involved in a course on Introduction to Environmental Law at NOVA FCT<\/a>. The activities of the \u00abAbreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate\u00bb are carried out with complete academic freedom.<\/p>

The \u00abAbreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate\u00bb is an ad personam<\/em> chair resulting from the collaboration agreement signed between the Knowledge Institute<\/a> of Abreu Advogados<\/a> and NOVA School of Law.<\/p>

The \u00abChair\u00bb aims to reinforce the internationalization of the NOVA School of Law<\/strong> by supporting the hiring of a professor to coordinate teaching and research activities in the areas of sustainability, particularly in the areas of environmental and energy law.<\/p>

The activities of the \u00abAbreu Chair in ESG, Energy and Climate\u00bb consist of the coordination of the knowledge centre <\/strong>NOVA Green Lab<\/strong><\/a>, whose research, training and dissemination activities are partially financed by the Knowledge Institute of Abreu Advogados.
