This comprehensive vision manifested in CEDIS\u2019s tripartite mission, outlined as follows:<\/p><ul><li>to reconceptualise legal science through a strong interdisciplinarity;<\/li><li>to redefine legal pedagogy by combining teaching with research, and by adopting a student-centred pedagogical approach;<\/li><li>to effectuate societal change by engaging directly with external stakeholders and communities.<\/li><\/ul><p>Throughout its evolution, CEDIS has experienced significant expansion, with its scholarly contributions setting commendable benchmarks across various scientific domains. <strong>The impact of CEDIS\u2019s activities extends beyond Law<\/strong>, catalysing transformative shifts in diverse spheres including social, cultural, economic, legal, political, environmental, technological, and digital domains. The institutional identity of CEDIS has evolved through synergistic engagements with diverse socio-legal research paradigms, aligning its objectives with broader imperatives. Currently, CEDIS\u2019s scholarly pursuits resonate with the <strong>European Agenda for Knowledge and Innovation<\/strong>, reflecting Europe\u2019s commitment to progressive knowledge dissemination. Additionally, its endeavours align with t<strong>he goals of the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)<\/strong>, highlighting its dedication to fostering a sustainable and egalitarian global community.<\/p><p>This alignment underscores CEDIS\u2019s pivotal role in <strong>advancing legal scholarship, education, and outreach<\/strong> while shaping an inclusive and sustainable future grounded in a nuanced understanding of the interplay between law and society.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3807fe elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"e3807fe\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 preto regular-text\">CEDIS has achieved the highest rating from the FCT and is the leading legal centre in Portugal<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-54c7efc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"54c7efc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In April 2025, CEDIS <strong>received the highest rating \u2013 Excellent \u2013 in the evaluation of national R&amp;D units carried out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fct.pt\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)<\/a><\/strong>. Among all research centres specialising in law in Portugal, <strong>CEDIS ranked first, achieving the highest rating in the country<\/strong>.\u00a0This recognition secures total funding of over \u20ac1.8 million for the 2025\u20132029 research cycle. The next evaluation is scheduled for 2030.<\/p><p>\u201c<em>This result confirms the relevance of our work and our vision of a transformative law, sensitive to diversity and social inequalities. It is also financed by European institutions and by other institutions in the area of \u200b\u200bLaw and Society. <strong>Its mission is to promote the quality and innovative character of its members&#8217; research, contributing to the development of Law.<\/strong><\/p><p>NOVA School of Law integrates its main disciplinary areas and research teams in CEDIS. NOVA School of Law&#8217;s research policy, consistent with the mission of NOVA University of Lisbon, <strong>privileges multidisciplinary, transversality, and internationalization.<\/strong><\/p><p>Research activities <strong>are organized into research groups and centres, and focus on scientific fields<\/strong> ranging from the relationship between Law and History, Law and Social Sciences, Economics and Governance of the Sea, Human Rights and Business, International Law and European Union, Law and New Technologies, Equality Law, and Law and Security, to topics such as Environment and Sustainability, Mobility, Digital Economy, Space, Biotechnology or Artificial Intelligence.<\/p><p>The research strategy is aligned with the<strong> United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the European Union&#8217;s strategic priorities<\/strong>, and aims to contribute to raising the quality of scientific production with an impact on public policies and society.<\/p><p><strong>Through the Research Support Office, CEDIS:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Informs its members weekly of national and international funding opportunities;<\/li><li>Supports the preparation and submission of applications and projects;<\/li><li>Collaborates in the constitution of consortia and partnerships and in the preparation of the respective
