Jean Monnet Module on Key Fundamental Rights Issues in the EU (RiseEU)<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

RIseEU is a Master-level<\/strong> 72-hour teaching programme on Key Fundamental Rights Issues in the European Union held at NOVA School of Law in Lisbon. It seeks to provide a comprehensive assessment of the key fundamental rights issues in the main areas of EU action, with an in-depth analysis of migration and asylum<\/strong>. Two courses will be offered: \u2018Key Fundamental Rights Issues in the EU\u2019 and \u2018Key Fundamental Rights Issues in EU Migration and Asylum Law\u2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In the last two decades or so, a series of crises and developments have shaken the EU, posing fundamental rights challenges. The treatment of migrants and asylum seekers, the climate crisis, the rule of law backsliding in some Member States, the artificial intelligence \u2018revolution\u2019, have all sparked heated debates on fundamental rights issues and the role of the EU therein. Taking seriously EU\u2019s ambition as a beacon of human rights and recognizing the important steps it took so far, the two Jean Monnet courses will assess the extent to which the EU delivers on its commitments and if this requires amendments to its current legal or institutional framework. Given the numerous critiques of the recently adopted New Pact on Migration and Asylum, special attention will be given to migration and asylum.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

One of the main objectives of the project is to produce and disseminate impact-oriented knowledge on key fundamental rights issues in the EU. Its activities will include the drafting of reports, the organization of webinars, as well as a final conference. These activities will be conducted by a team committed to interdisciplinary approaches and meaningful impact, in close collaboration with stakeholders from civil society.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
