Development on Law and Society of the NOVA School of Law<\/a>, has received the highest rating &#8211; Excellent &#8211; in the evaluation of national R&amp;D units carried out by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)<\/strong>. Furthermore, among research centres in the field of Law, CEDIS received the highest score. This recognition secures total funding of over \u20ac1.8 million for the 2025\u20132029 research cycle.<\/p><p>&#8220;<em>This result confirms the relevance of our work and our vision of a transformative law, sensitive to diversity and social inequalities. It is also an incentive to continue to innovate in the way we practice and teach law<\/em>&#8220;, says Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/soraya-nour-sckell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soraya Nour Sckell<\/a>, Director of CEDIS.<\/p><p>The evaluation highlighted CEDIS&#8217; commitment to a critical, interdisciplinary and innovative perspective on law, combining academic excellence with public intervention and social impact.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-209b1f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-ekit_wb_28992\" data-id=\"209b1f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ekit_wb_28992.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"normal-titleh3 preto regular-text\">Research with a purpose: law at the service of society<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d1503f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9d1503f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Founded with a mission to challenge traditional paradigms and promote alternative ways of producing legal knowledge, <strong>CEDIS has established itself as a research centre committed to addressing contemporary challenges<\/strong>.\u00a0The FCT has highlighted the significance of <strong>CEDIS\u2019s contributions<\/strong> in areas such as gender and race discrimination, human rights, climate justice, artificial intelligence, corporate compliance and others.<\/p><p>The Centre takes <strong>a broad view of legal research,<\/strong> supported by <b>e<\/b><strong>mpirical methodologies<\/strong> and an <strong>international and interdisciplinary group of researchers<\/strong>.
