The NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Centre\u00a0<strong>will stimulate and aggregate joint research<\/strong>\u00a0and wants to be part of the internationalization effort of the School, stating as an\u00a0<strong>innovative research centre dedicated to scientific and multidisciplinary research on ocean and its governance<\/strong>, with the aim of consolidating and expand the ongoing research and the scientific knowledge in this important domain.<\/p><p>The NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Centre is anchored in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/mestrados\/law-and-economics-of-the-sea\/\"><strong>Master\u2019s Degree in Law and Economics of the Sea \u2013 Ocean Governance \u2013<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0created in 2015, that has already developed and import research work, promoted partnerships, internships, and research visits. It should be noted that the NOVA Law School is the only higher education institution in Portugal that is a host institution of the prestigious\u00a0<em>United Nations Programme \u201cThe Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Programme for Human Resources Development and Advancement of the Legal Order of the World\u2019s Oceans\u201d<\/em>. The NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Centre aims to create a new interest for knowledge related to the ocean, namely among the BA dedicated to the Ocean \u2013 NOVA OCEAN \u2013 aims to increment the joint and interdisciplinary scientific research in the ocean domain, with an impact at the global level, in line with the NOVA School of Law focus in the great present challenges and contribute to improve the external visibility of the School of Law.<\/p><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>Goals<\/h3><p>The main goal of the NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center is to\u00a0<strong>stimulate, support, and aggregate the scientific multidisciplinary research in the domain of the ocean and its governance<\/strong>, with a focus on the sustainable development of the ocean in line with SDG 14 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, the European Union blue agenda, and the National Ocean Strategy 2021-2030. Sustainability and possibilities of the digital progress in the ocean field are two cross-cutting central domains in the NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center agenda.<\/p><p>The NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center proposal integrates the NOVA School of Law ambition to focus on the great present challenges of humanity and have action with impact at the global level, contributing to the external visibility of the NOVA School of Law. 6 Anchored in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/novalaw.unl.pt\/en\/mestrados\/law-and-economics-of-the-sea\/\"><strong>Master\u2019s Degree in Law and Economics of the Sea \u2013 Ocean Governance\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>\u2013 the NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center will contribute to frame the study and work of the students in organised topics and lines of research, both in the curricular part and in the second part of the masters, namely by proposing the conclusion of the degree trough a research project. It will also permit to engage BA students and therefore stimulate their interest in proceeding studies in this field at the master\u00b4s level. To reveal the work done, its potential, and engage PdD students to promote a more lasting and deep research is also a concern of NOVA OCEAN.<\/p><p>Following the MDEM, this research centre\u00a0<strong>adopts a multi and interdisciplinary approach and aims to strengthen relations with other organic units of the University<\/strong>\u00a0as well as other national and international entities and institutions dedicated to the study of the ocean. To this concern, NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center wants also to state as a c<strong>entre to provide services to the community<\/strong>, namely in supporting the preparation and assessment of legislation
