One of the targets of SDG 16 is the development of effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels.<\/p><p>The DDL Centre is also animated by NOVA School of Law\u2019s vocation to develop legal science in Portugal, in particular by stimulating data-driven legal research.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div engaging legal scholars in data-driven multidisciplinary research teams that draw on, among others, economics and data analytics capabilities as tools to:<\/p><ul><li>A better and more accurate diagnosis of law reform needs;<\/li><li>Redesign and adjust existing legal instruments;<\/li><li>Measure the impact of public policy decisions.<\/li><\/ul><p>More broadly, the DDL Centre supports, produces and stimulates the search of data-driven responses to the most pressing societal challenges of the 21st Century.<\/p><p><strong>To this end, the DDL Centre:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Organizes seminars, conferences and offers dedicated training aimed at spreading data-driven research in the NOVA School of Law research community;<\/li><li>Establishes collaboration outside the NOVA School of Law, inside but also outside NOVA University, Lisbon;<\/li><li>Seeks public and private funding to support, produce and stimulate data-driven legal research.<\/li><\/ul><p>The DDL Centre also looks into the growing body of knowledge on the provision of\u00a0<em>data-driven human<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>machine-learning<\/em>\u00a0expert assistance to legal adjudication\/ judicial data-id=\"e8872ee\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the context of the NOVA Knowledge Centre for Data-Driven Law activity, it is being developed the \u00ab<strong>Multiversity Project &#8211; White Paper on multiple and intersectional discrimination\u00bb<\/strong>, which aims to <strong>build a science-based recommendation, based on multidisciplinary knowledge, to level and harmonize anti-discrimination protections in Portugal, considering sequential, additive, and intersectional multiple discrimination<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The focus will be on <strong>discrimination based on sex, racial\/ethnic origin, sexual orientation and gender identity and disability<\/strong> and taking into account the specific socio-economic consequences of each type of discrimination.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-93d62b6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"93d62b6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The project, coordinated by Margarida Lima Rego (NOVA School of Law) and Paulo C\u00f4rte-Real (Nova SBE), is financed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeagrants.gov.pt\/en\/\">EEA Grants<\/a>, under the Conciliation and Gender Equality Programme, whose promoter is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cig.gov.pt\/\">Commission for
