Biographical Note | Pedagogical Experience

Jeff Redding is an experienced researcher and educator with substantial experience in the NGO, human rights, and sustainability sectors too. Over the past several years, he has researched, lectured, and taught around the world including in the United States, Pakistan, India, France, Australia, Portugal, and Egypt. He has held research fellowships at Yale Law School (Oscar M. Ruebhausen program), Harvard Law School (Islamic Legal Studies Program), and Columbia Law School (Center for the Study of Law and Culture). He is also the recent co-recipient of a Law and Society Association (LSA) Global Collaboration Grant which he and his colleagues used to convene a Lahore-based workshop in late 2023 facilitating connections between global LSA networks and local communities of sociolegal researchers on South Asia.

His publications are numerous and include the recent 2020 monograph A Secular Need: Islamic Law and State Governance in Contemporary India (University of Washington Press, Global South Asia series) and the 2022 co-edited volume Queer and Religious Alliances in Family Law Politics and Beyond (Anthem Press).
