Biographical Note | Pedagogical Experience

Joana Campos Carvalho has a PhD in Law from NOVA School of Law.

Her main areas of research are Contract Law and Mediation.

She is a professor at NOVA School of Law (guest professor between 2016 and 2024; assistant professor from 2024), coordinator of the NOVA Dispute Resolution Forum and researcher at CEDIS – Centre for Research & Development on Law and Society and NOVA Consumer Lab.

She is also a mediator certified by the Ministry of Justice, with experience in civil and commercial mediation.

She is the author (and co-author) of several texts in the area of private law, including the book “Os contratos celebrados através de plataformas digitais (Contracts concluded through digital platforms)”, Almedina, 2023, and in the area of alternative dispute resolution, including the book “Manual de Resolução Alternativa de Litígios de Consumo (Handbook for Alternative Resolution of Consumer Disputes)“, Almedina, 2017, reprinted in 2019.

She is currently the executive coordinator of Jurisnova, the organisation responsible for advanced training at NOVA School of Law.

She previously worked at the Directorate-General for Justice Policy (2009-2011) and at the Bank of Portugal (2011-2016).
