João Morais Leitão's bibliographic collection becomes part of the heritage of NOVA School of Law

The bibliographic collection of João Morais Leitão, founding partner of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados, who was also a visiting professor during the founding phase of NOVA School of Law, has now become part of the faculty’s heritage. This gesture, rich in symbolic meaning, represents the recognition of a historical link between the legal profession and the teaching of law at NOVA.

A leading figure in Portuguese advocacy, Professor Leitão was also instrumental in establishing one of the earliest protocols between NOVA School of Law and the Morais Leitão law firm — one of our longest-standing and most significant strategic partnerships. This agreement, still in force today, stands as a testament to a collaboration that has contributed to training generations of lawyers.

The collection will remain in storage until the Faculty moves to its new premises, after which it will be available for consultation by appointment.

NOVA School of Law would like to express its deepest gratitude to the family of João Morais Leitão, and in particular to Maria Morais Leitão, for their generosity and the trust placed in the institution. This gesture ensures that part of the history of Portuguese law is preserved and made available to future generations.

This collection is more than just a library; it represents a testament to a life dedicated to law and an enduring partnership that continues to inspire the academic community at NOVA School of Law.
