Santander Foundation Awards, Professor Carlos Ferreira de Almeida Award and Professor Paula Escarameia Award: the winners
- 6 de December de 2024
At NOVA School of Law, we value talent and recognise the merits of all our people, especially those who have chosen us to further their knowledge and contribute to a fairer and better society. That’s why we have created awards to recognise the exceptional academic achievements of our students.
At our Faculty Day, we once again honoured the students who have excelled.
Santander Foundation Awards
Once again, we would like to congratulate Ísis Santiago do Outeiro Martins and Carolina dos Santos Barbosa, who have been awarded the Santander Foundation Prizes, which aim to recognise the academic merit of our first-year students in the Law Degree and the Master’s in Law and Financial Markets.
These awards are the result of the partnership signed between NOVA School of Law and the Santander Portugal Foundation, which allows us to fulfil one of our vocations, which is to continue developing our activities with the aim of translating our achievements in teaching and research into concrete and impactful results for society.
Professor Carlos Ferreira de Almeida Award
Another big winner was doctoral student Diogo Costa Seixas, who was awarded the Professor Carlos Ferreira de Almeida Prize, created by Professor Maria Helena Brito and the NOVA School of Law.
In accordance with the late Professor’s wishes, whose teaching influenced generations of students and gave a decisive impulse to the completion of Doctorates in Law, especially in Private Law, the prize honours the best student in the teaching phase of the PhD in Law, in the area of Private Law.
Professor Paula Escarameia Award
Finally, we would also like to congratulate Miguel Gomes Ferreira Pouseiro, winner of the Professor Paula Escarameia Prize, which aims to recognise and reward work in the field of international law.
The prize, which is awarded every two years, was created by NOVA School of Law on the basis of the legacy of the Professor, an eminent Portuguese international jurist who, among other important positions, served as a member of the United Nations International Law Commission between 2002 and 2010, a period during which she collaborated intensively with NOVA School of Law as a lecturer and researcher.
