For the NOVA School of Law community, October is the month that welcomes one of the most special dates in our academic calendar: NOVA School of Law Day. It is a time when we come together to celebrate our history, recognise the achievements of our students, and reinforce the ties that bind us.
This year, we will gather once more on 29 October to celebrate what defines us and continue building the future.

That's how it was in 2024...
Until that day comes, here are some of the highlights from last year’s event, along with a message from our Dean, Margarida Lima Rego, to all those who have chosen our Faculty to dare a new way of thinking about law.
“Studying Law at NOVA School of Law means learning to change the world. It means accepting the challenge of playing an active role that makes a difference in society and in the lives of those around us. (…) For us, teaching means training agents of change: active, global jurists who are socially aware and compassionate. In today’s world, competence alone is no longer enough. We do not mould students or fill their heads with knowledge; rather, we enhance each person’s unique qualities. Through constant, tireless, personal work, everyone — teachers, students, and non-teaching professionals — questions what exists inside and outside the classroom, seeks new realities and overcomes barriers and boundaries.
Never doubt your abilities. Believe me when I tell you that you will leave here with an excellent education, modesty aside. Studying any legal issue seriously today requires solid theoretical and practical training. However, this preparation must now be complemented by the growing need for internationalisation, multidisciplinarity, teamwork and the ability to access and process huge amounts of information. The country and the world need people with your knowledge, skills and values. The sky is the limit. Ours and yours.
