Celebration of Diversity and Inclusion at NOVA School of Law

november 2025

November is Diversity and Inclusion Month at NOVA University and NOVA School of Law — a time to celebrate differences, promote respect, and reaffirm our School’s commitment to building a fairer, more empathetic, and more plural academic community.

To this end, NOVA School of Law is organising two events to which the entire community is invited to reflect on, share, and celebrate the value of inclusion and diversity, recognising both what makes us unique and what brings us together.

18 November | Open Class on “Inclusive Legal Spaces: Mental Health as a Priority”

2:00–4:00 p.m. | Room 7

Led by Professor Soraya Nour Sckell, and featuring Raquel Sampaio from the Associação Direito Mental, this session will encourage participants to consider the role of law in promoting mental health, equity and respect for differences.

19 November | Inclusion Party

1:00 p.m. | Painting workshop “Painting Inclusion”, led by Marta Xavier | Room 7

A moment to celebrate differences and transform them into art and colour.

Register here to take part.

For this activity, we recommend bringing a loose t-shirt (that can get dirty) and two random objects from home: one that you like and one that you don’t (optional).

All painting materials will be provided by the School.

1:30 p.m. | Music and snack for the NOVA School of Law community | Human Rights Courtyard

Join us for an afternoon of conviviality and celebration with great music and food.

Take part, share your voice and help us to create an environment in which everyone is seen, heard and respected.

We also invite you to wear or bring something that symbolises your culture or identity.

Come and celebrate inclusion, and make your mark on this collective experience!
