José João Abrantes is a Full Professor at the NOVA School of Law and Pro-Rector of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.
Specialist in Labour Law, he is member of several scientific associations and networks. In particular, he is the Portuguese national expert of the European Labour Law Network, which assists the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission. For seven years he was Vice-President of APODIT – Portuguese Association of Labour Law.
He has many years of national and international experience as a specialist and consultant in the labour area, namely in matters of European and international law, having provided consultancy and technical assistance to ministries (e.g. the Ministry of Labour) and other public institutions. He is fluent in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian and has more than one hundred publications, especially in the labour area, in Portugal and many other countries.
