
Inês Portela is the founder of the Legal Design Institute and an Ambassador for the Liquid Legal Institute.
She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate degree in Legal and Economic Studies from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. She began her career in diplomacy at the OECD in Paris before moving into consulting, where she developed strategy and operations projects for hospitals and pharmacies in Spain and Belgium at Antares Consulting. In Portugal, she worked with Deloitte Consulting in the Healthcare and Public Sector areas and served as a legal advisor to the Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers.
Between 2012 and 2016, Inês co-founded and served as CEO of two Legaltech startups, becoming a pioneering member of the European Legaltech community. She went on to join Morais Leitão as a legal project manager, innovation consultant and coordinated Nova SBE’s customized training program Business Academy for Lawyers.
Her experience as a Legaltech entrepreneur and consultant in innovation, strategy, and operations gives her a unique perspective, enriching the way she approaches and teaches topics at the intersection of Law, Technology, and Innovation.
She has taught at NOVA School of Law and NOVA SBE Executive Education in Legal Project Management, Legal Design, and Digital Transformation, and currently coordinates academic and executive courses at NOVA School of Law in Entrepreneurship, Legaltech, and Legal Design.
