PhD in Economics and Master in International Economics from ISEG/ULisboa.

Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusíada since 1994, where he teaches the courses of Financial Markets, Financial Calculus, and Finance Topics. Guest Professor at Universidade Nova IMS, having also taught at IDEFE-ISEG, ISCSP, NOVA School of law, and Universidade Católica.

Author of several books, including “Mercados – São Mesmo os Grandes Culpados da Crise?” (2015), also contributed to the following books: “The Future of Pension Plans in the EU Internal Market” (2019) and “Risk Management in Portuguese Financial Institutions” (2015). He was also one of the coordinators of the “Code of Contributory Regimes of the Social Security System – Annotated and Commented“.

Board Member of SILVIP (SGOIC) since 2022. Held management positions in the Specialized Credit Analysis Department of Banco Montepio between 2020 and 2022 and in the Studies Department of Banco de Empresas Montepio between 2019 and 2022. He was Board Member of Montepio Geral Associação Mutualista and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Montepio Gestão de Ativos (SGFI) between 2016 and 2018. Board Member of Montepio Valor (SGFI) between 2013 and 2016 and Vice-President of the Instituto da Segurança Social, I.P. between 2011 and 2013. Between 2009 and 2011, he also held management positions at Montepio Geral Associação Mutualista (MGAM) and in some of the companies of the Montepio Group (Futuro, SGFP; Residências Montepio, SA; and Finivalor, SGFI), having also held management positions in the Financial and International Department, Studies Department and Risk Department of Caixa Económica Montepio Geral (CEMG) between 2004 and 2008. Economist at the Studies Department of Comissão de Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM) between 2001 and 2004 and in the Macroeconomics and Financial Markets Research Department of BANIF – Banco de Investimento between 2000 and 2001. He also collaborated as an external consultant between 1997 and 2000 with the Conselho Económico e Social (CES) and with the Departamento de Prospetiva e Planeamento (DPP).
