NOVA University Lisbon implements Gender Equality Plan
NOVA University Lisbon will implement, in all its Organic Units – including, of course, the NOVA School of Law – a Gender Equality Plan for the period 2021-2025, reaffirming its alignment with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Plan consists of 10 measures which aim to achieve a set of 44 objectives that are distributed over five dimensions, in particular: work-life balance and organisational culture, gender balance in leadership and decision-making, gender equality in recruitment and career progression, integration of the gender dimension into research and teaching content and measures against gender-based violence, including sexual harassment.
In its structural and strategic priorities, NOVA has proximity policies based on the principles of inclusion, equality and diversity. Since 2019, NOVA has participated in the European project SPEAR (Supporting and Implementing Plans for Gender Equality in Academia and Research), with the aim of improving the representation of women in management positions and promoting fairer and more inclusive institutions.
The Gender Equality Plan also provides for a continuous monitoring process of its implementation and activities aimed at its sustainability, so that it continues beyond the lifetime of the project within which it was developed.
