Summer Course on Intellectual Property & Sustainability

Innovating for a better world. This Summer Course dives into one of the legal perspectives that are most relevant to this current global challenge, setting the focus on the link between Intellectual Property (IP) and Sustainability.
We will dive into the realms of:
- Patent law and green technologies
- Trademark law and green branding
- Design law and the circular economy
- Copyright law and sustainable creativity
- Geographical indications and land valorization
As an addition to the Course, for the participants based in Lisbon, we offer the unique opportunity of an on-site visit to the Portuguese National IP Court and the Lisbon branch of the Unified Patent Court, discussing with national IP judges, as well as the possibility to enter our sponsor’s offices, exploring innovative ways of IP legal practice at Cuatrecasas law firm and meeting their Lisbon IP legal team.
A certificate of Course completion will be awarded to all participants having attended at least 5 sessions.

Objective
The Course will consist of 6 sessions, each of which will feature lectures from internationally renowned IP legal scholars as well as exercises of legal application and legal interpretation.

- Learn, reflect, and discuss the application of IP legal rules in selected sustainability-relevant scenarios
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in global and comparative IP law
- Think along with experts and professionals from diverse sectors and backgrounds
