The course will delve into AI technologies, offering a comprehensive understanding of their current state and future trends. It will elucidate the intricate legal landscape surrounding AI, emphasising the AI Regulation (the so-called AIA) while addressing its potential gaps, inconsistencies, and legal ramifications. Furthermore, the course will analyse existing and forthcoming European legal texts that bear a close relationship with the field of AI. The goal is to equip professionals with a profound comprehension of the legal intricacies and prepare them for the forthcoming legislative challenges in the domain of artificial intelligence.

Course Objective
The course aims to prepare professionals (both legal and non-legal) whose activities involve the development, manufacture, use, or certification of AI systems to better understand the applicable legal framework and its legal consequences, with a particular emphasis on preparing for the upcoming legislative challenges.
Target Audience
AI developers, lawyers, judges, public officials involved in operating and/or approving and certifying AI systems, and researchers.
Teaching Method
E-learning (remote teaching via the Zoom platform). Sessions will be recorded.

Workload

- The concluding assignment for the course is a reflective diary, ranging between 10,000 and 12,000 words, focusing on one or more of the topics covered throughout the course. The successful conclusion of this assignment is necessary for the conclusion certificate, but not for the certificate of attendance.
- Estimated 112 hours of work for those wishing to submit their final work for the purpose of assessment and certification.

Certification and credits
4 ECTS. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate attesting to the successful completion of this ECTS course at level 7 under the European qualification framework (master level). Attendance of at least 80% of the sessions will give rise to a certificate of attendance.
