Full Professor at the NOVA School of Law. Specialist in Legal and Political Sciences. Graduated (1980), Master (1986) and PhD (1998) in Law from the Lisbon University Faculty of Law. She is a member of the Oporto University Faculty of Law.
She was a guest researcher in the Max-Planck Institute of Comparative Public Law and Public International Law, Heidelberg in 1986-1987 and 1992-1996.
She is a member of the following research centres, associations and institutes: CEDIS, Centro de Investigação & Desenvolvimento sobre Direito e Sociedade, NOVA School of Law; Portuguese Association of Constitutional Law, affiliated to the International Association of Constitutional Law / Association Internationale de Droit Constitutionnel (IACL-AIDC); Institute of Comparative Luso-Brazilian Law, with headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Federative Republic of Brazil (IDCLB); Portuguese Association of Law Theory, Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy, affiliated to the “International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy” (IVR); Portuguese Society of Criminology, affiliated to the “International Society of Criminology” (ISC).
She belongs to the following evaluation panels: Foundation for Science and Technology in the attribution of post-doctoral fellowships; European Union Commission, Priamus Programme, Horizon 2020.
