Biographical Note

Joana Maria Seabra Torres Capaz Coelho is a Ph.D. candidate in Law at NOVA School of Law.

In 2021, she completed her Master’s degree in Law, with a specialization in Public Law, also at NOVA School of Law. In 2018, she graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, Lisbon School.

In addition, Joana Maria Seabra Torres Capaz Coelho also has two postgraduate degrees: one in Concessions and Public-Private Partnerships, from the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and another in Human Rights, granted by the Ius Gentium Conimbrigae / Human Rights Center of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.

Joana Maria Seabra Torres Capaz Coelho is currently a Teaching Assistant in the Public Law Group at NOVA School of Law. In parallel, she is a researcher at WhatNext.Law, a center created in 2021 by NOVA School of Law and Vieira de Almeida, focused on legal topics of the future. In this context, she is dedicated to writing insights for the center’s Blog.

At the same time, Joana Maria Seabra Torres Capaz Coelho is a Lawyer registered with the Portuguese Bar Association since September 2022. 
Finally, Joana Maria Seabra Torres Capaz Coelho has published 24 legal articles, including 2 publications in specialized journals. The remaining publications include her Master’s dissertation, her final postgraduate work in Human Rights, and 20 articles published in two different legal blogs.
