April 22, 2024 | On-line

UNCRC Policy Centre on the Convention on the Rights of the Child at NOVA School of Law

On August 22, 2023, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child published the General Comment No. 26 on the rights of the child and the environment with a special focus on climate change, addressing “the impacts of the climate emergency, the collapse of biodiversity and widespread pollution, outlining countermeasures to protect the lives and prospects of children, reinforcing the principle of intergenerational equity and future generations“.

This Session is part of the activities of the Chair of the UNCRC Policy Centre on the Convention on the Rights of the Child at NOVA School of Law and aims to present General Comment No. 26 in Portuguese, now available in Portuguese, but also to promote a debate on the main challenges and opportunities in relation to its implementation, with a view to ensuring that children are a priority in strategies and policies for the environment, but also agents of change.
