Professor Robin Fretwell Wilson from University of Illinois College of Law receives Fulbright Award in Law and Sustainability 2024

After welcoming Professor Burke Griggs, from Washburn University, in 2023, as part of the first edition of the Fulbright Scholarship in Law and Sustainability, next September, and for the academic year 2024-2025, NOVA School of Law will welcome Professor Robin Fretwell Wilson, from University of Illinois College of Law, the beneficiary of the second edition of this scholarship, which allows American professors and researchers to come to our School to carry out teaching and research activities in the field of law and sustainability.
The grant was awarded within the framework of the protocol signed with the Fulbright Commission, which meets the vision of the future that is part of NOVA School of Law’s DNA and allows us to strengthen our commitment to the best ways and practices that can be used to defend a better world, namely through an international teaching staff.
At NOVA School of Law, Professor Robin Fretwell Wilson will be teaching Constitutional Justice and Legal English.
Robin Fretwell Wilson
Robin Fretwell Wilson is the Mildred Van Voorhis Jones Chair in Law at the University of Illinois College of Law. The author of twenty-two books, Professor Wilson has ranked among the Top Ten Family Law Scholars in the United States for scholarly impact in each ranking done by the Leiter Report since 2010. She co-directs the College of Law’s Epstein Health Law & Policy Program, as well as its Family Law & Policy Program.
Professor Wilson also founded and runs the Tolerance Means Dialogues – also held at our Faculty in November last year – made possible by private philanthropic support to bridge divides in the culture wars.
A member of the American Law Institute, Professor Wilson has eight times been honored for her work with lawmakers on innovative laws that address thorny questions, such as how to mesh LGBT rights with protections for religious belief and practice—including the 2022 Respect for Marriage Act, hailed as the most significant LGBT piece of legislation in the last decade.
