Eduniversal Best Masters Rankings
NOVA School of Law already has two master’s programmes listed in the Eduniversal Best Masters Rankings, which recognise the most relevant master’s programmes in the world, in terms of programme content, teaching, relevance and visibility, students’ professional success and academic relevance.
For the 2025 edition, Eduniversal analysed 56 specialisations at over 1,900 universities across 153 countries, presenting 5,990 programmes in 137 countries within the global ranking.
Master’s in Law and Economics of the Sea – Ocean Governance
The Master’s in Law and Economics of the Sea – Ocean Governance, which brings together NOVA School of Law and Nova School of Business and Economics since 2023/2024, corresponding to the evolution of the NOVA School of Law Master’s degree started in 2015, the programme now ranks 7th worldwide in the Eduniversal Ranking 2025 in the area of Maritime Management, and is the only Portuguese degree in the World Top 50.
Master’s in Law and Financial Markets
The Master’s in Law and Financial Markets, the result of an innovative partnership between NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS) and NOVA School of Law, was ranked 25th in Western Europe in the International Business Law category of the Eduniversal Ranking 2025.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings
In 2023, the NOVA School of Law was included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which is one of the most prestigious higher education rankings worldwide. In the 2025 edition, it is ranked between 201st and 250th in a list comprising a record 2,092 institutions from 115 countries and regions.
This ranking identifies the best universities in the world, assessing their performance in four main areas: teaching (learning environment); research (volume, output and reputation); citations (research influence); industrial output (knowledge transfer); and international outlook (staff, students and research). NOVA University Lisbon features prominently in the main international rankings.

QS World University Rankings 2026
NOVA University Lisbon maintains its prominent position on the international stage, ranking among the global elite in higher education. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, it is the 327th best university in the world. NOVA also reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by ranking 141st globally in the QS Sustainability Rankings and securing first place in Portugal among the 14 universities that were ranked. It is also recognised as the 18th best university in Southern Europe in the QS European University Rankings.
In the field of law, the NOVA School of Law confirms its academic and scientific relevance by ranking in the 301–350 range in the QS World University Rankings by Subject — Law & Legal Studies (2026). This result reflects the quality of the research produced, the social impact of teaching and the faculty’s growing international reputation.
This positioning reinforces NOVA School of Law’s role as one of the leading law schools in Portugal and a well-established reference point in the European and international context.
