Adolfo Mesquita Nunes joins NOVA School of Law

Following our commitment to strengthening our team of teaching staff with the best and most talented professionals, we are pleased to welcome Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, who will be joining NOVA School of Law in the second semester to teach «Direito e Políticas Públicas» in the Master’s in Law – Specialization in Public Regulatory Law, an innovative commitment of NOVA School of Law in an unavoidable area of public law: regulation.

Adolfo Mesquita Nunes holds a Master’s degree in Law (Political Legal Sciences) and is a public law lawyer with experience in public policy, public procurement, regulation, litigation and arbitration. He is a partner at Pérez-Llorca in public and regulatory law.

With more than 20 years of experience, he has represented various public and private entities in administrative disputes, focusing in recent years on highly regulated sectors where regulation is either a restrictive element or a driver of business models.

He is currently Vice President and Independent Non-Executive Director of Galp Energia, member of the Arbitration Panel of the Administrative Arbitration Centre (CAAD) and President of the Business Club of the World Trade Centre Lisbon for Smart Cities.

In 2013, he was Secretary of State for Tourism under the Minister of the Economy, António Pires de Lima, and in 2015 he was reappointed to this position in the 20th Constitutional Government. Between 2011 and 2013, he was a member of the Portuguese Parliament.

This recruitment thus contributes to the excellence of the Master’s in Law – Specialisation in Public Regulation Law, which has a programme that allows for the deepening and consolidation of knowledge in traditional and structural areas of public law, while also offering a set of curricular units that address, in an interdisciplinary and specialised way, the different aspects and stages of modern public regulatory intervention.
